Welcome Letter

July 2016

Hello 5th Graders!

I hope you’re enjoying a great summer!  What have you been doing?  Some of the things I’ve been doing include hiking, kayaking, running, camping, swimming, and reading.  I’ve been doing a lot of these things with my family including my two sons Eli (17) and Ben (15). I can’t wait to hear all about what you’ve been up to when school begins! On the second day of school please bring in a picture of yourself doing something you love. During the first few weeks of school we will spend a lot of time getting to know each other and building a strong classroom community.

I know it may be hard to think about this right now, but the beginning of school will be here sooner than we think. I’m including a list of supplies that I recommend you bring to school. Getting ready for school can be expensive, so if you are not able to get any of these things, don’t worry about it, we’ll have extra supplies here on hand.

  • Pencils, pencils, and more pencils! (mechanical or regular...Ticonderoga is the best brand)
  • 2 composition/thesis books (usually black and white covers)
  • 2 one subject spiral notebooks
  • Box of tissues
  • Ear buds for technology use
I’m excited about the first day of school and all the great things we’ll be doing together this year!  Our first day of school is August 31. If you have any questions before then feel free to email me at

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and see you soon!
